Erie Insurance System Outage

Dear Erie Customers,

On Saturday, June 7th, Erie Insurance’s Information Security team detected and acted against a security threat. As a result, most Erie services are currently experiencing an outage. As of June 26th, some systems have been restored while others are still being worked on. The full media release is available to the public on ERIEInsurance.com under Company > Newsroom. They will continue to provide updates on their website.

At this time, Erie has control of their systems and they have seen no evidence of ransomware and there is no indication of ongoing threat actor activity. Erie encourages all customers to follow best practices around personal security and notify their financial institutions of any unusual activity.

We want to remind you that Erie will never contact you by phone or email to request payments. As always, do not click on any links from unknown sources, download attachments, or share your personal information via phone or email.

To safeguard your account, all automatic electronic fund transfers were suspended. We recognize that this outage may have prevented you from making payment by its scheduled due date. Rest assured, no late fees will be assessed and no cancellations will be issued on active or renewing business for lack of payment due to the outage.

MONTHLY AUTO-PAY UPDATE:

Any unpaid EFT installments will be included with the Insured’s next debit, and the amount due will be reflected on their debit withdrawal notice. Once Erie restores full access, you may submit a manual payment 10 days in advance of the withdrawl date to avoid a double withdrawl. Please call our office with any questions.

We are still able to help you start claims! Our Heartland Insurance Partners office and Erie’s claims and customer care teams continue to provide support. Policyholders who need to initiate a claim can contact our office at (260) 969-6610 or Erie’s First Notice of Loss team at (800) 367-3743.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
